So, a friend of mine is doing the "e harmony" thing and she recently received this email:

"I prefer to date women under 30 who have never married and have no children OR women over 30 who are divorced or have kids. My reasoning is that I have found that women over 30 who have never married or have not had children usually have some sort of mental hang-up which is a nice way of saying they are psycho. 11 billion people on the planet and after 30 years you can't find a man?!? However, feel free to prove me wrong. I enjoy a good challenge. :)"

I ROFL'd but she is quite offended...

Went to see my childhood friend, Kelly, last weekend. She moved to DC to attend Georgetown. She finished her thesis and defended it almost 6 months ago: “Spatial Regulation of Chromosomal Replication in a Bacterial Model System.” Tumor biology is her thing. In March she started working for the Navy and is really enjoying it.

It was so nice to see her. It’s been too long. She was a great hostess. Her graduation was on Friday and that took the whole day and evening. We had a nice dinner on the river front and then went our separate ways. We went to see a few monuments on Saturday after we went to the Eastern Market. Nick and I then crashed at the hotel for a couple of hours and then watched ATHF till 1am. Our legs and feet were so sore with all the walking. Sunday we took our time getting ready and checking out of the hotel. Had a nice breakfast and then went to coffee with Kelly and Nick’s friend. He also had a graduation ceremony this weekend. After coffee we went to the Pentagon Mall and wandered for an hour or so. By then we had to catch our flight home.

I was sad to leave. I miss her so much.

While there were some very irritating moments, overall I had blast with the Cafe Penguicon. I hope everyone else had fun too. The room was jammed packed from 8pm until about 12am. Non-stop! My feet are so sore today. I did leave the room for a few to check out the Pirate's room party across the hall and was very impressed with it.

Thank you so much for having patience with me and helping me out. It seemed like people really enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to Penguicon in April. (Ger and I have been tossing around the idea of throwing a room party ourselves.) The chocolate fountain was a hit! The LN2 icecream was sooo much fun. And people really liked the Bubble Gum flavored Cola.

And Thank you to my awesome husband Nick for running to the store for us, showing up with dinner for me, and drawing the smiley face and my cleavage.

When was the last time you had a really good laugh? I mean laughing so hard you're crying and/or your tummy hurts. On my drive home tonight from hanging out with friends I thought to myself, "I'm really grateful I'm at a place in my life where I often laugh that hard." My husband and his friends interacting will usually have me laughing a lot.

Tonight I had one of those laughs and it was over the silliest thing. Jer had simply picked up some snow and packed it into a snowball, looked at me and then set it on the hood of his car. I'm sure he saw the horror in my face. All I could think was, "This is going to hurt..." Then I started laughing at myself. I was convinced he was going to hit me with that snowball and I would cry. And it's going to be the funniest thing ever! I was so scared to turn my back on him which was making me laugh even harder. He did throw one at the passenger window of my car hard enough to sound as if it would break. Not that it would take much. This was after we spent a couple of hours out to coffee laughing our asses off from joking around.

The kitties will do something every once in a while that will have me totally disabled due to laughing. It's usually at their expense though. Norman will scare the shit out of himself which will cause a chain reaction of events like falling off the table, knocking something down with him and running into the wall trying to get away. They will run into the window thinking it's open or when the kitten tried to jump from the bed to the dresser and from over excitement at the thought of getting a toy, totally miscalculated and went face first into the dresser.

Well this turned out to be a longer post than I intended. Anyway, it was just a thought.
